Oops, haven't updated in a while!

I’ve seen a few things since April and now. Here’s a recap of it all and what I wrote about them on my bluesky because I don’t remember all of these enough to do full write-ups for all of them. I’ll include the date of my post too for reference.

1. Blade Runner: The Final Cut (April 26, 2025)

I watched this with my grandma when she visited me, she didn’t like it. She called it a crack movie if I remember right. I enjoyed it though.

2. Thunderbolts* (May 4, 2025)

I enjoyed this movie despite not really seeing any of the television series that I’m guessing previously introduced some of these characters. One of the better recent MCU movies I think.

3. Sonic 2 (May 23, 2025)

I’ve had Sonic Origins since it first launched but I was always hard filtered by death egg robo. Every few months I’d boot up the game, die a few times, and turn the game off. Finally beat it this time though.

4. Repligator (May 29, 2025)

A wild ride. Not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, but sometimes they’d say something like “prehistoric orgasms” and I’d just lose it. However, the movie spent a lot more time focusing on showing naked breasts than the gators, so I’ll have to knock it a few points. 10/10. There was a trans person too, good for her.

5. Lunar: Silver Star Story Remastered (May 31, 2025)

I really liked Lunar. It’s like “simple”, the combat isn’t that deep, the story isn’t that complex, but that doesn’t mean bad, it’s a really solid game. I really liked just walking around towns and talking to all the NPCs, the interactions between the party, it was a really fun game to play through.

I also really liked the pixel art, there were a lot of beautiful areas or scenes. I played it in the remastered mode so I’m sure having the game in 16:9 instead of 4:3 made it all the better.

6. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (June 21, 2025)

I bought this game on launch but I never finished it, came back to it to see the Switch 2 enhancements, which were great. The game ran at a perfect 60 fps for my entire playthrough, which was really cool for me as I am unfortunately a fps snob.

As for my thoughts on the game, it was really fun to just do shit. I don’t usually do a lot of side content when I play games but in this case I was just having fun playing the game. I could’ve beaten it a lot faster but I was just having fun exploring and doing side quests. I even ended up lighting up the entire depths, even if all I got was just a medal. The Zonai powers and devices are all great and fun to play with, I definitely prefer them over the Sheikah powers. Fusion especially made weapon breaking not as big of a deal to me versus how I thought about it in BOTW.

7. The Flowers of Evil Complete (June 24, 2025)

I grabbed the first volume of this when I spotted it at a Half Price Books a while ago. I had recently finished Inside Mari and wanted to read more of this author’s works. I read the first volume that same day but didn’t get the rest of the series til a while later.

I read the entire series in one night, because I just needed to read more. Very engaging story, I would definitely give it a recommendation if you’re a fan of other works by Shuzo Oshimi.

8. Sonic 3 & Knuckles (June 28, 2025)

First time I’ve ever beaten Sonic 3 despite being a Sonic fan for as long as I can remember. Fun game, though I unfortunately didn’t end up getting all of the Super Emeralds before the end of the game. I really like the art style and music of the Genesis Sonic games, it’s very iconic.

9. Parasyte (June 30, 2025)

Another manga I binged because I just couldn’t put it down.

A thrilling sci-fi horror/action manga! I really enjoyed watching the development of Shinichi and Migi, and it had some deepter themes to think about. The full color collection is also really nice. The hardcover volumes feel good in the hand, the paper is high quality, and I thought the coloration elevated the experience. Unfortunately however, it did contain the death of a character I was growing fond of, right after I said “I hope this character doesn’t die”, so ultimately I will have to rate it a 0 out of 10.

10. Panty and Stocking rewatch with friend (July 9, 2025)

I really like this show. This is like my fourth or so time watching the entire series. I want to watch the second season sometime, though I still haven’t at the time of writing.

11. Superman (July 12, 2025)

Good shit! I had a good time watching this movie. I also liked the Justice Gang, I feel like they were all fun characters, especially Guy Gardner and Mr. Terrific.

Honestly I’ve never really watched or read other Superman media other than the Snyderverse stuff, but I can definitely say I preferred this rendition over that one.

12. Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 26, 2025)

I thought it was a solid movie but you could definitely tell there was a lot of stuff that got cut out of the final product. I also wish Reed like actually stretched more, I feel like they could’ve done more with it than they did.

I’d give it a 4 out of 5 (haha get it).

13. The Truman Show (August 9, 2025)

Another movie with granny. I think she enjoyed this one more than Blade Runner. I also thought it was a good movie. I expected more comedy given that it was a Jim Carrey movie, but I was pleasently surprised by the actual tone of the movie. There were comedic moments of course, it just wasn’t what I was initially expecting.

It’s actually kind of funny as a kid I used to think that there were actually some ethereal group of people watching me and recording me, making some kind of show about it. I felt that way anytime I was like in direct view of windows or mirrors or that kind of thing. Might be part of why I still hate being out in public, I still get a feeling of always being watched and judged and it can be really oppressive at times, and there are times where I talk myself out of going out somewhere just because I don’t want to be outside of the privacy of my apartment.

Maybe I am both Truman and the one trapping me inside Seahaven. In a prison of my own design or whatever.

14. The Bad Guys (August 15, 2025)

I watched this because I wanted to watch the sequel.

A solid movie. Well animated, with a simple plot that had good execution. There were some scenes/recurring jokes that I’d ideally remove from the movie but it’s a Dreamworks kids movie, they probably have some quota they have to fill.

I also really really like Diane Foxington

15. The Bad Guys 2 (August 17, 2025)

The only other adults in the theater were parents with their children. Should I feel embarrassed? Who cares.

I’d say this was an improvement on the original in pretty much every way. It was a very fun and enjoyable film.

One way I’d put it is that I’d buy both movies on Blu-Ray, but the first movie I might watch like a couple of times, but I’d mostly only buy it because it would be weird to only own the sequel, which is a movie I’d come back to every now and then to watch for fun.

It’s similar to how I feel about Puss in Boots, though the improvements from the first movie to the second in that case are vastly more drastic than the difference between the Bad Guys 1 and 2.

And that’s everything since the last time I updated this website. I’m playing Chibi-Robo with plans on beating it this holiday weekend, so maybe look forward to that or something? Have a good day either way. Thanks for reading me trying to find 15 different ways of saying “I really liked this thing!”
